Stay on camera in
Zoom, Meet, and Teams —
even when you walk away.

MeetingDouble is a small macOS app that records a 60-second loop of you ‘listening attentively’, then plays it through a native virtual camera whenever you step away from the desk. Four sensors agree before the loop kicks in, so it never false-triggers mid-sentence.

How it works

Three steps. Two clicks. One loop.

  1. Step 01

    Record a 60-second loop

Click the menubar icon, hit Start. Look at the camera like you’re paying attention. MeetingDouble finds a neutral pose, stitches a seamless loop, saves it to your library.

  2. Step 02

Pick MeetingDouble in Zoom’s camera dropdown

Same dropdown you already use for FaceTime HD or Continuity Camera. MeetingDouble appears once macOS approves the system-extension activation (one-time prompt, walks you through).

  3. Step 03

    Walk away

When HID idle, face missing, voice silent, and hotkey all agree — MeetingDouble fades to the loop. As soon as you’re back at the desk, it fades back. Mic stays muted until you say so.

Why it works

The careful version of a stupid idea.

01

Native CMIOExtension virtual camera

MeetingDouble registers a real macOS virtual camera through Apple’s CoreMediaIO API — the same mechanism Continuity Camera uses. Not a screen-share hack, not a kernel driver. Zoom, Meet, Teams, OBS, Discord, FaceTime, browser camera permissions all just see a camera named “MeetingDouble”.

02

Four-sensor away detection

Switching to the loop requires HID idle (>20s), face missing from the webcam (>5s), microphone silent (>5s), and hotkey override all agreeing. Single-signal triggers would false-positive on bathroom breaks or quiet thinking. We avoid that.

03

Invisible loop seam

The loop player blends five frames at the seam using a Core Image alpha-mix. Combined with neutral-pose seeking, the cut is invisible at Zoom thumbnail size — and even on a 27-inch panel it’s hard to spot if you don’t know it’s there.

04

Cmd+Shift+A override

Global hotkey forces the loop regardless of what the detector thinks. Useful when you need to disappear mid-sentence and trust your loop more than the sensors. Press again to come back.

05

Sparkle auto-updates

EdDSA-signed delta updates. No App Store, because App Store would reject this product on day one. DMG distribution, Developer-ID signed and notarized — so the Gatekeeper prompt is the friendly one, not the scary one.

How MeetingDouble compares

MeetingDouble vs Mmhmm vs OBS vs FineCam.

Every Mac virtual-camera tool sits somewhere on a spectrum from full streaming studio (OBS) to live-presentation overlays (Mmhmm). MeetingDouble is the only one that records you, then plays you back when you’re not there.

FAQ

Things people ask before they buy.

Is MeetingDouble ethical?

It’s a tool. You decide where to use it. We built it for the kind of meeting culture that rewards camera-on for hours regardless of whether you’re actually contributing — but it’s your judgement call.

Does MeetingDouble work in Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams?

Yes. MeetingDouble exposes a macOS virtual camera, so anything that lists cameras on Mac can pick it up. That includes Zoom, Meet, Teams, Discord, FaceTime, OBS Studio, Streamlabs, and the camera permission prompt in Safari/Chrome.

Will Apple ban MeetingDouble from macOS?

App Store would, which is why we don’t ship there. But CMIOExtension is Apple’s officially supported virtual-camera API — used by Continuity Camera, Snap Camera, and every other Mac virtual cam. We ship a Developer-ID-signed, notarized DMG that passes Gatekeeper cleanly.

Which macOS versions does MeetingDouble support?

Apple Silicon Macs (M1 or newer) running macOS 14.2 Sonoma or later. Intel and older macOS are not supported — the CMIOExtension API stack we depend on changed shape in macOS 12 and stabilized in 14.

Can my colleagues tell I’m using MeetingDouble?

Not at thumbnail size. At full-screen there are tells if someone’s looking for them (the seam crossfade, the lack of micro-expressions during long stretches). The 60-second loop length is deliberately too long to spot pattern repetition in a 30-minute meeting.

Do you offer refunds?

Yes — 14 days, no questions. Email [email protected] and we revoke the license. Refunds return 95% of the price (~$122.55 on a $129 license). Stripe deducts a ~5% card-network + processing fee that they keep on every charge and do not return to us on refund. This is shown on the checkout page so you can opt out before paying.

Why not a subscription?

A virtual-camera utility doesn’t accrue server cost. Charging monthly for an app that runs entirely on your Mac is rent-seeking. $129 once.
