How to use MeetingDouble with Google Meet

Three steps. Then walk away.

  1. 1
    Step 01

Install MeetingDouble + approve the system extension

Download the DMG, drag to Applications, click the menubar icon. macOS asks once to allow the virtual camera. Approve in System Settings.

  2. 2
    Step 02

    Record a 60-second loop

Hit Start in the menubar popover. Look at the camera the way you look during a one-on-one with your manager. MeetingDouble crops a neutral pose and stitches a seamless loop.

  3. 3
    Step 03

    Pick MeetingDouble in Google Meet

In any Meet call, click the three-dot menu → Settings → Video → Camera. Choose ‘MeetingDouble’. Meet uses your browser’s camera permission, so the first time you may need to allow MeetingDouble specifically.

Why MeetingDouble for Google Meet

Not a screen-share trick. A real virtual camera.

  • Works in Meet in any browser

Google Meet runs in Chrome, Safari, Edge, and Arc on Mac. All four ask macOS for camera permissions through the same system API. MeetingDouble appears in every Meet camera dropdown.

  • No Chrome extension. No Google account touched.

Some virtual-camera tools require a Chrome extension or sign-in to a service. MeetingDouble is a native macOS app — Google Meet sees a regular camera. No browser extension, no OAuth.

  • Compatible with Meet’s blur and background-replace

Meet’s built-in background effects operate on the camera input. Stacking them on top of a MeetingDouble loop works fine — and makes the loop even harder to spot.

  • Hotkey override during fast standups

Cmd+Shift+A swaps you into loop mode without leaving Meet. Useful for ten-minute daily standups where you need to be present for two minutes and absent for eight.

Common questions

Google Meet + MeetingDouble FAQ.

Does MeetingDouble work in Google Meet on Mac?

Yes. Meet uses macOS’s standard camera APIs. MeetingDouble appears in Meet’s camera dropdown alongside your built-in FaceTime HD camera.

Do I need a Chrome extension to use MeetingDouble with Google Meet?

No. MeetingDouble is a native macOS app that exposes a virtual camera. Meet (and Chrome) discover it through the operating system — no browser extension required.

Can colleagues using Meet on phone tell I’m on a loop?

At mobile thumbnail size? Effectively impossible. At full-screen on a laptop, the seam crossfade is visible only if someone is specifically looking for it.

Does the Meet ‘background blur’ feature still work?

Yes. Meet applies blur to the camera output regardless of source. Stacked with MeetingDouble’s loop, the result is convincing and a bit softer.

Will Meet’s noise cancellation still mute my real mic?

Meet’s mic settings are independent of camera. MeetingDouble doesn’t touch your mic stream — only the video. Mute and unmute as normal.

What macOS versions are supported?

Apple Silicon Macs running macOS 14.2 Sonoma or later.
