Microsoft Teams · macOS 14+ · Apple Silicon

A Microsoft Teams virtual camera for macOS.
Survives the all-hands. So do you.

MeetingDouble plays a recorded loop of you ‘paying attention’ as a native virtual camera in Microsoft Teams. Same dropdown you already use. Works in the Teams desktop app on Mac and in the Teams web client.

How to use MeetingDouble with Microsoft Teams

Three steps. Then walk away.

  1. 1
    Step 01

Install MeetingDouble + approve the system extension

Download the DMG, drag to Applications, open the menubar app. Approve the camera extension in System Settings → Privacy & Security on first launch.

  2. 2
    Step 02

    Record a 60-second loop

From the menubar, click Start. Sit through 60 seconds looking as engaged as you can manage. MeetingDouble crops a neutral pose, stitches the loop, saves to your library.

  3. 3
    Step 03

    Pick MeetingDouble in Teams

Open Teams → Settings → Devices → Camera. Select ‘MeetingDouble’. From now on, Teams shows your loop whenever the four-sensor detector says you’ve left the desk.

Why MeetingDouble for Microsoft Teams

Not a screen-share trick. A real virtual camera.

  • Built for the all-hands

Teams meetings tend to be long, structured, and camera-mandatory. The 60-second loop length is specifically designed to survive a 60-minute town hall without obvious repetition.

  • Works with Together Mode and Large Gallery

Both Teams view modes operate on the camera output. MeetingDouble appears as a regular camera, so Together Mode renders your loop into the auditorium scene like any other participant.

  • Doesn’t need IT to install anything

MeetingDouble runs entirely on your Mac. It doesn’t install a Teams add-in or talk to Microsoft Graph. There’s nothing for your admin console to see or block.

  • Survives Teams updates

Microsoft ships Teams updates aggressively. Because MeetingDouble is a virtual camera at the macOS layer — not a Teams plugin — Teams updates don’t affect it.

Common questions

Microsoft Teams + MeetingDouble FAQ.

Does MeetingDouble work in Microsoft Teams on Mac?

Yes. Teams’s Mac desktop app and web client both pull cameras from macOS. MeetingDouble appears in the camera dropdown alongside FaceTime HD and any external webcam.

Can my employer’s IT detect MeetingDouble?

MeetingDouble is a local macOS app and a virtual camera. It doesn’t register with Teams Admin Center, Intune, or any Microsoft service. Detection would require monitoring all macOS camera devices, which most MDM setups do not.

Does it work in Teams Live Events and Teams Webinars?

Yes. Both use Teams’s standard camera selection. MeetingDouble shows up in both.

What about Teams’s background-blur and replace?

Teams applies background effects after the camera frame is captured, regardless of camera source. They work fine on top of MeetingDouble. Stacking blur over the loop also helps mask the seam.

Will Teams keep me on the loop if I’m the active speaker?

MeetingDouble’s detector uses microphone activity as one of its four signals. If you’re actually talking, it stays on the live camera. If you’re truly silent for more than five seconds (and idle, face-missing, etc.) the loop kicks in.

What macOS versions are supported?

Apple Silicon Macs (M1 or newer) on macOS 14.2 Sonoma or later.
